Mr Soul is back. Following his world tour Mr Meadows has returned to Tameside Radio.

Pete fell in love with Soul music at Audie Grammar when on Friday lunchtimes, the guys were allowed to take in records to play in the music room!

After buying a set of mobile disco equipment for his 18th birthday (and choosing the 'groovy' name Pete Meadows - a name he is probably better know by today), he launched Double Joes Roadshow and ran it for 25 years, squeezing in as much soul music as possible at every occasion, his first regular gig being at the Boot & Clogger in Woodley for 8 pounds a night!

He became resident DJ at Hyde's Vymura Club Family Fun Night and led the dancing to just about every dance craze there has ever been from The Locomotion to Macarena.

Like Mike Wallbank, Pete was one of the original volunteers responsible for establishing Heartbeat Radio, the internal broadcasting station for Tameside General Hospital and fundraised for a year to fund the broadcast equipment, carrying out crazy antics such as 'climbing' up Melbourne Street in Stalybridge!

Pete got into Northern Soul in the mid 70's attending Wigan Casino all niters and is still hugely into the soul scene today although preferring the more mellow crossover style sounds currently popular. He DJ'd at Soul In The Sun in Tenerife for ten years and has also spun the soul in Ibiza and Lanzarote.

"Soultime" on Tameside Radio -every Monday night from 9 til 11pm - covers the more popular side of soul, featuring records that were successful commercially as well as 'the magic of Motown', so get out the talc, take off your fluffy slippers,and put your dancing shoes on!
