Join Alan Ovington every Saturday evening from 6pm for an hour of classic rock & heavy metal. It is a weekly Rock Sampler with a bit of trivia thrown in for good measure. So make a note in your diary or stick a reminder on the side of your fridge!

ABOUT THE SHOW: Basically, it is an hour of great classic rock music with plenty of trivia about the bands and tracks featured. A sixty minute sampler of Hard rock, Prog Rock, Heavy Metal and Power Ballads, mainly - but not exclusively - from the seventies and eighties. You will recognise some of the tracks. Others you may not - but you will probably have heard of the groups.

ABOUT ME: I was born in South Shields (Geordie-land) in a year that increases by 7995 when you turn it upside down. Always been interested in radio, electronics, trivia, puzzles and jokes. I was introduced to Rock Music in the Scouts thanks to Nick, Neil and Lanky. I graduated with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Manchester Polytechnic. In January 1989 I joined the team of volunteers at Radio Starlion - the hospital radio station that serves Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport - and have presented regular programmes there ever since. I was involved with Tameside Radio during its days as a web based radio station in 2005, and started presenting the current run of the Power Hour on 22nd March 2008.
