Balsam Bashing - Event Information
Time on your hands? A weed-clearing working party needs your help! The main method of control is pulling or cutting the plants before they flower and set seed. Unlike some plant seeds, Himalayan balsam seeds cannot stay dormant in the soil for long, so if a site is managed carefully the population can be dramatically reduced or eliminated in only two to three years. Tameside Countryside Service will be embarking on one of its regular ‘balsam bashing’ work parties to clear the weed...
